Chief Executive Officer: Marcel Smit
Marcel Smit joined Mirror42 in the summer of 2012. Marcel is responsible for execution of the company strategy, international expansion, external relations and investor relations. He brings over 25 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Mirror42, Marcel was CEO at Q-go for 8 years. Q-Go was a next generation online customer service software company that he expanded internationally in both the US and Europe. Q-Go was sold to RightNow in 2011.
Prior to Q-go, Smit was Vice President Northern Europe at MicroStrategy, a leading global supplier of business intelligence, and he held a variety of marketing and sales leadership positions at Oracle and USoft over the course of 15 years prior to that time.
Marcel graduated from Nyenrode Business University in The Netherlands with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
Chief Products Officer & founder: Karel van der Poel
Karel (Karl) van der Poel is CPO and founder of Mirror42. Karel served as Mirror42 CEO from 2004-2012. Before founding Mirror42, Karel van der Poel served as Vice President Strategy & Research of GorillaPark the pan-european business incubator. He was responsible for the investment strategy and involved in the seed-financing of more then 20 companies.
From 1994-1997 Karel van der Poel worked as a world-wide product manager and researcher at PROLIN Automation B.V. In 1997 Hewlett Packard Company acquired PROLIN. At HP Software Division Karel van der Poel continued to work as world wide product manager for IT Service Management software products untill 1999. As product manager he was responsible for define, build and market introduction of HP OpenView Service Desk in October 1999.
VP Sales – Marc Mulder
Marc Mulder joined Mirror42 in 2012. He is responsible for sales and marketing at Mirror42. Marc has over 18 years experience in the Business Intelligence Industry as a Sales & Marketing Manager. Prior to joining Mirror42 Marc ran various European sales teams for IBM Cognos Business Analytics for 4 years. Prior to IBM, Marc held several sales positions at SAS (a leading and global supplier of business intelligence solutions) for 7 years. Prior to SAS, Marc had sales positions at Microstrategy.
VP Professional Services – Gertjan Krab
Prior to joining Mirror42, Gertjan was working for 4 years at Q-go, a next generation online customer service software company, as Vice President Corporate Development and Director Professional Services & Operations. Q-Go was acquired by RightNow in Januari 2011 and became part of Oracle after Oracle acquired RightNow in Oktober 2011.
Prior to Q-go, Krab was Principal for the Business Intelligence Practice at a Dutch Microsoft consulting firm. Before that he worked 10 years for MicroStrategy, a leading global supplier of business intelligence, and he held a variety of professional services and support leadership positions over the course of 10 years prior to that time.
Gertjan graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Informatics.
VP Business Development & co-founder: Arjen Pront
Arjen Pront is co-founder of Mirror42 and responsible for business partnerships and finance. Arjen Pront also co-founded Tornado Insider Group, an Amsterdam-based media company focusing on entrepreneurs and investors throughout the European high growth marketplace. Prior to co-founding Tornado Insider Group, Arjen Pront worked at Hewlett-Packard where he was on the management team of the IT Service Manager Business Unit in the OpenView Division. Arjen Pront was one of the key members in facilitating the integration of PROLIN Automation, B.V., after its acquisition by Hewlett-Packard. Arjen Pront served as a partner in the PROLIN organization. Before his tenure at PROLIN, Arjen Pront was a Director at Bank Mees & Hope in the Netherlands and the U. K. Arjen Pront has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Hyperion Associates, PROLIN Automation and Foundation Software (Ilion Plc), holds a Bachelors degree from HES in Amsterdam and a Masters from Newport University in the USA.
Director of Global Alliances: Paul van Nistelrooy
With over 20 years of IT experience, Paul brings extensive experience to the team when it comes to IT Sales, Pre-sales and Alliances. Before joining Mirror42 in 2007, Paul worked as a Sales Enablement Team Lead for CA, after its acquisition of Niku. In this role, Paul was responsible for all sales and pre-sales support for both direct and indirect EMEA sales channels for Clarity, CA’s market leading Project & Portfolio Management offering. Before Niku/CA, Paul was involved in upcoming and fast growing companies like BWise (Governance, Risk & Compliance – now a Nasdaq OMX company) and Baan Business Innovation (Enterprise Reference Modelling).
Paul van Nistelrooy holds a Master of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Groningen.
VP R&D & co-founder: Erik Hoffmann
Erik Hoffmann is co-founder of Mirror42 and responsible for product development. Erik has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. He has spent his professional career providing the vital role as software architect between product management and software engineering in corporate environments and (Internet) start-ups. Erik Hoffmann began his career as an software architect at Dutch software startup PROLIN Automation B.V.. PROLIN provided software applications to support IT processes based on ITIL. After the company was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 1997 he focused on integrating PROLIN’s software into HP OpenView’s product portfolio. In 1999, seeking new career challenges a startup would provide, Erik Hoffmann co-founded Moonshake Technologies and served as CEO. Moonshake provides bespoke software engineering for Internet-enabled company critical solutions. With his knowledge of and interest in IT process management he joined Mirror42 to run research and product development.
Lead Architect: Lawrence Pit
Lawrence is responsible for the technical architecture and technology decisions at Mirror42. Lawrence Pit has always been working on the creation of mission critical enterprise management applications. Before joining Mirror42, Lawrence founded two software development companies: Moonshake Technologies, where he served as Chief Software Architect, and later Boston IT where he was the managing director. He worked for companies such as Hewlett-Packard OpenView and Cisco Systems having the role of Lead Software Architect. He also worked several years for PROLIN, a company specializing in IT Service Management software. Lawrence Pit received a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Leiden.
Board Members
Patrick Polak (Newion Investments)
Managing partner Patrick Polak is co-founder of Newion since 2000 and he is active as a venture capitalist since 1997. After his Aerospace Technology studies at Delft, he (co-)founded an IT company. At the end of 1996, he sold his interest in this company. Early in 1997, he joined N.V. NOM at Groningen where he was specifically responsible for investments in IT-related companies. In addition to the IT investments, he has invested in various other types of companies. Patrick was (or continues to be) member of various Non Executive Boards of Directors.
Floris van Alkemade (Solid Ventures)
Floris van Alkemade has been actively involved with startups since 1998. From 1998 to 2008 he was a general partner at NeSBIC CTe Fund, EUR 210M value added venture capital funds having invested in 38 early stage technology companies in Europe and US. In 2000 he managed the NeSBIC CTe Fund office in Silicon Valley, US. At the end of 2005 he founded, together with Robert Wilhelm and Herman deLatte, Solid Ventures to invest in Dutch based technology companies. In addition Floris has helped numerous startups as business angel and coach. Before starting in venture capital Floris worked at Unisource NV, a pan-European telecommunications company, the investment bank MeesPierson NV and the consulting firm Andersson Elffers Felix BV. He has a Masters Degree in Business Econometrics from the Free University of Amsterdam.
