Mirror42 was founded in 2004 with the vision to put IT executives back in charge. Our products and solutions are built upon three pillars: define, measure, improve. Define your goals as an IT executive, translate those into measurable metrics, begin measuring and improve your organization by reaching your goals.
At Mirror42 we are dedicated to realizing this vision with powerful technologies, pragmatic solutions, and specialized user communities. For too long IT has been seen as the costly black box where business economics do not apply. If you want to run IT as a business, then you should start with measuring yourself as a business.
Mirror42’s founders have a track record of delivering software solutions to IT executives. The founding team was responsible for the design, development and product marketing of PROLIN IT Service Manager (acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 1997). At Hewlett Packard the team became responsible for building HP OpenView ServiceDesk, which was launched in 1999. As we’ve grown, the Mirror42 team has been strengthened with experience from other IT management software successes such as Baan, Applix, Bwise, Niku and Computer Associates.
Company Name
Our company name was been inspired by a passage from the book, “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams. In this book, Douglas Adams lets a computer answer the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. The question = Why? Deep Thought, the second greatest computer in the Universe of Time and Space, comes up with the very simple and unexpected answer of “forty-two”.
For us at Mirror42, management is looking into the mirror and facing your performance. “Forty-two” reminds us that an answer is only useful if one understands the question and vice versa. Our solutions enable companies to face their performance, ask questions and to interpret and understand the answers.
