Get your on-premise business metrics on your mobile
by Erik Hoffmann on Jan 30th, 2012Good news for all business managers that would love to have their business metrics — for which the data reside in databases behind the firewall (on-premise) — available on their smart-phone. We have made the integration of on-premise data into KPI Dashboard much easier with our Data Collector.
With the Data Collector you can connect to any datasource, Oracle, SQL Server, SAP BW. The Data Collector is a secure software agent that is installed within your IT infrastructure. The Data Collector enables configuration of data collection from SQL structured databases, and it automatically sends collected data as indicator scores to your KPI Dashboard account.
The DataCollector and its documentation is available for all KPI Dashboard Editions. Go to our download page and download the Data Collector right now. To get an impression about the capabilities of the DataCollector please take a look at our online tutorial.

How to make 966% return on your BI investment
by Paul van Nistelrooy on Dec 14th, 2011As IT budgets continue to shrink and expectations traditionally rise, you may be interested in finding a high yield on your IT spend. How about a 966% return on your investment? A recent examination of Nucleus Research found organizations earn an average of $10.66 for every dollar spent on deployments of analytics applications such as business intelligence (BI), performance management (PM), and predictive analytics. See here for an excerpt of the research note.
In addition to this, Nucleus Research found out that integrating their analytics applications multiple data sources pays off: “Companies that integrated their analytics applications with three or more data sources tended to achieve higher returns than organizations that integrated only one or two data sources.”
KPI Dashboard offers the world’s leading Cloud BI tool for Performance Management, allowing for integrating with multiple data sources, through one or more of the standard integrations available in the KPI Dashboard Store and the ability to set up custom integrations using the KPI Dashboard API.
Thousands of customers across the globe have experienced the power of SaaS BI for their performance management initiative. According to Nucleus, by learning more about their customers, products, and costs, these companies are in a strong position to cost effectively grow their business and thus gaing a considerable competitive advantage.
So… what are you waiting for?
So you need to publish your metrics by law or other regulations
by Erik Hoffmann on Dec 8th, 2011Some organizations need (really need: by law or other regulations) to publish metrics regularly, for example local and regional government agencies, semi-government agencies, hospitals, insurers, government funded organizations / projects, etc. Most common methods are sharing PDF documents or using a web publishing system, or even having some programmers publish the data periodically on your web site. A lot of time and money is spent on getting first the data right, and then getting the visualization right. Most common mistakes are in publishing wrong data (due to for example wrong formulas, or due to typos).
KPI Dashboard offers a cost-effective alternative. The metrics for publication are stored in the KPI Dashboard data repository in the Cloud, and data is shared via public dashboards that can be embedded in web sites, for your own look & feel. Next to being more cost-effective, you get a nice visualization, and graph interactions to allow your visitors to dive into the data. Also, we can make the same data easily available on mobile devices, just because the data is centrally stored in the Cloud.
We have several customers that are responsible for periodic publication of data that use KPI Dashboard. One of our customers is the Dutch Land Registry Office. We help them to get data out of SAP systems on land registry activities to visualize trends in prices and sales of land and homes in the Netherlands. They embed this in their web site (warning: in Dutch but you probably get a feel for the possibilities).
Another interesting example is our Eurozone dashboard that shows the state of the Eurozone.
